My testimonial is aimed at the older stubborn men who may have the chance to read it. I'm a hard working man from a family of farmers. Hardwork, and common sense and determination is what the job teaches. Good qualities, but, asstated, being stubborn and that "Ican handle anything attitude" including the pain from an arthritic right hip, hell I have the left almost good one to get me around. So, I dragged myself around doing the work I had to with a cane or a stick, or anything available wherever I was when it would want to give out and make each step painful. Mean while my active recreational life was almost gone, also because of the extreme hip pain. I am and have always been an active hiker and love to ride my motorcycle since a kid. But now they had been taken way from me with the pain from my hips. My thoughts were I have to do something or my life as I knew it was gone. Now was the time for that old farming ingenuity and common sense. I have to find someone who can perform anteriorhip replacement, anterior because of the less downtime. Common sense dictates, find a doctor that performs these all most everyday and multiple on some days Why you might ask...because the more you do something the more proficient you become at performing this surgery. In doing so many, one may be sure he has met almost every complication that may arise in performing so many. I live a considerable distance from Dr.Boettner in up state NY, wherethrough my research I found Doctors who perform hip surgery but not at rate that will make one extremely proficient. I was also looking for a facility who has one of the best track records with the prevention of infections considering the major surgery of hip replacement. Without any doubt that is HSS. Now came the task of choosing a proficient Surgeon. Common sense interjected one more time, find one who is well credentialed, performs many, and who is cutting edge with technology available today. I poured through the list of surgeons on the HSS website. After reviewing Dr.Boettner's background and experience there wasn't much doubt for me that he was the man. Everyone has there accompany ingreasons that may play into it also, there was one for me, if anyone is familiar with the exactness, and tight tolerances of fine German engineering would know that it would be great to find a surgeon with these qualities. All you stubborn old men that may have held on so long living in pain, hearme loud! You will not find a more qualified surgeon in the whole world. Yes.... whole world and at the best hospital in the world for Orthopedic surgery. He just completed my second hip, the right in May and the left in September. I have my life back again, I can move without pain, and hike and ride again. I have the most respect and gratitude for this man. Anyone who can restore your life so you can do all the things you once did, this is guy! Don't sit on a fence with a decision about hip surgery, don't live in pain. Go for it ! You will be so glad you did! Thank you Dr.Boettner and all your staff.
