When I found out that I was in need of a hip replacement in 2013 my first choice for was Hospital for Special Surgery. Their reputation for extensive infection control protocols and experienced joint replacement surgeons were the most important criteria for me.

I discovered Dr. Boettner through the Hospital's website. Reading about his expertise in joint replacements and his caring reputation along with the availability to see him on Long Island for my visits made him my first choice. My initial consultation with Dr. Boettner was very positive and he explained everything in detail. I was not ready to take the plunge yet, so for the next year I had cortisone shots several times until I was finally ready in December 2014.

Everything went seamlessly from pre-testing to surgery and finally out patient rehabilitation. With no more pain, I started a new job (on feet all day) 7 weeks later. I felt wonderful.

Fast forward to 2019 and now my other hip is needing replacement. With a family trip to Ireland planned for August 1, 2019 (lots of walking and touring of course) I knew I could not hesitate. Again, with the utmost confidence in Dr. Boettner, I scheduled my surgery for June 7th.

I had my surgery on June 7th. As I had hoped, the surgery went very well again. This time the rehab for the anterior total hip replacement consisted of just walking and walking. Dr. Boettner had said this was the therapy I needed and it would all work out. I had complete faith in him. I had 8 weeks to be ready for our fantastic trip to Ireland! Sure enough after 3 weeks I turned the corner and with little or no pain since surgery and now walking comfortably I knew I would be ready for our trip.

On August 10th we came home from our trip. It was amazing and best of all my new hip was amazing! I kept up with all 7 family members and wearing my Fitbit, I was logging 10,000 to 14,000 steps per day. So many more than before surgery.

I am forever grateful to Dr. Boettner for his expertise, his amazing team, HSS and all the staff for “getting me Back in the Game”. I feel fabulous!! I have referred several friends to him that have had Hip replacement surgery, also with only positive results.

I’m now enjoying every day without pain and looking forward to getting stronger and fitter than I have been in a long time. Thank you Dr. Boettner!!
